RED STAGE THEATRE announces a new 2-day physical theatre with our close associate Yorgos Karamalegos.
The lab/ workshop will take place on the 22nd & the 23rd of December:
22/12/2014: Monday 11am-7pm
23/12/2014: Tuesday 11am-8pm (7pm-8pm presentation/open workshop of the work done in the 2 days with the lab’s participants, open to the public interested to watch).
The lab will be conducted both in English and Greek language and is open to Professional Actors and Drama School students.
THIS WORKSHOP WILL FOCUS ON SHARING:
– A practical method on how to approach and connect personally with a new monologue and a character.
– A grounding process that will assist you to delve deeper and discover your archetypal sounds and moving qualities that will flow into your character and text effortlessly.
Yorgos works with the exhilarating sense of freedom and release that performers experience when they dive inside the body. Through durational practices, performers open up physically and emotionally, ground themselves down, and discover their own essence and qualities (mind, body, voice, emotion/energy).
They experience themselves in full capacity, which is often hidden under layers of performing habits, emotional resistance or simply trying too hard.
From that freeing place, moving, acting, improvising and performing is impulsive, enjoyable and effortless.
This practice also applies to film work, as it brings performers and actors to a grounded, realistic place.
